Date:

Lucknow, April 2026: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday flagged off the 10 lakhth vehicle from the Tata Motors plant in Lucknow, highlighting the stateโ€™s rapid transformation into a major manufacturing hub.

Landmark Milestone for UPโ€™s Industrial Growth

The milestone vehicleโ€”a modern electric busโ€”marks over three decades of operations at the Lucknow facility, which was established in 1992.

The plant has produced 10 lakh commercial vehicles, reflecting its strong contribution to Indiaโ€™s automobile sector and the stateโ€™s industrial development.

CM Yogi Highlights Manufacturing Push

Speaking at the event, CM Yogi Adityanath said the achievement is not just an industrial milestone but a sign of Uttar Pradeshโ€™s growing strength as a manufacturing destination.

He emphasised that improvements in:

  • Infrastructure
  • Connectivity
  • Law and order

have created a favourable environment for industries to invest and expand in the state.

Employment and Global Reach

The Lucknow plant has:

  • Generated employment for around 8,000 people
  • Built a strong supplier ecosystem
  • Exported vehicles to around 15 countries

Officials said this reflects the growing integration of Uttar Pradesh into global manufacturing value chains.

Focus on Sustainable Mobility

The rollout of an electric bus as the 10 lakhth vehicle underscores the industryโ€™s shift towards green and sustainable technologies, including electric and alternative fuel vehicles.

Tata Group Chairman N. Chandrasekaran expressed confidence that production could reach 20 lakh vehicles in the next five years, indicating strong future growth potential.

Vision for a Global Manufacturing Hub

The Chief Minister reiterated that Uttar Pradesh is steadily moving towards becoming a global manufacturing hub, driven by policy reforms, investment-friendly initiatives, and industrial expansion.
