Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Discuss Seat-Sharing Formula in Maharashtra

Date:

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to embark on a two-day visit to Maharashtra, where he is expected to hold talks on a seat-sharing formula and finalise candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha election.

The visit, which begins today, will see Shah visiting Sambhajinagar in the Marathwada region on the first day. The region was the epicentre of the Maratha reservation issue, making this visit significant in the political landscape of Maharashtra.

Sambhajinagar has been a stronghold of the Shiv Sena for more than two decades. Shah’s visit to this region is seen as a strategic move ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. On Tuesday evening, the Union Minister is scheduled to hold a roadshow and a public meeting in Sambhajinagar.

The visit is expected to provide an opportunity for the Union Home Minister to gauge the political climate in the region, especially in the wake of the Maratha reservation issue. The outcome of the discussions on the seat-sharing formula will be crucial in determining the political alliances for the upcoming elections.
