PM Modi on National Science Day 2026: ‘Science Is the Foundation of Solutions, Innovation and Development’

On the occasion of National Science Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that when knowledge combines with science, the path to overcoming crises automatically opens.

In a video message shared on social media platform X, the Prime Minister emphasized that science forms the foundation of solutions, development, and innovation. He said India’s ancient scriptures highlight that when knowledge and science come together, solutions to global challenges emerge naturally.


National Science Day Dedicated to CV Raman’s Discovery

National Science Day is observed annually on February 28 to commemorate the discovery of the Raman Effect by Nobel laureate C. V. Raman in 1928.

PM Modi noted that the discovery of the Raman Effect transformed the direction of scientific research and established India’s strong presence in global science.

In his post, he wrote that National Science Day celebrates the spirit of research, innovation, and scientific curiosity that drives the nation forward. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening the research ecosystem, empowering youth, and using science and technology for national development and global welfare.


Leaders Extend Greetings to Scientists and Innovators

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla extended greetings to the nation, calling the discovery of the Raman Effect a historic milestone that elevated India’s scientific prestige globally.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar congratulated scientists and innovators for continuously expanding the boundaries of knowledge. He highlighted India’s achievements across sectors including:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI)
  • Space research
  • Defence technology
  • Information Technology
  • Healthcare
  • Agriculture
  • Renewable energy

India’s Growing Global Scientific Footprint

From landmark missions like Chandrayaan and the upcoming Gaganyaan programme to advancements in affordable healthcare and green energy, India is strengthening its global standing in science and technology.

National Science Day 2026 reinforces the message of promoting scientific temper, encouraging research, and fostering innovation at every level of society.

The day also serves as a tribute to scientists, researchers, and students whose dedication and hard work continue to build the foundation of a self-reliant and technologically advanced India.
