Feeder Bus Service Launched at PCMC Metro Station, Commuters Flag Irregular Operations

Date:

Pune: In a bid to improve last-mile connectivity, feeder bus services have been launched from the PCMC Metro station, connecting commuters to nearby areas and key transit points across the city.

The initiative, introduced by Maha Metro in coordination with PMPML, is part of a broader plan to strengthen connectivity across the Pune Metro network. Currently, feeder services are operational across 11 metro stations and 23 routes, covering major locations such as SNDT, Swargate, Shivajinagar, Ramwadi, Yerawada, and Kalyaninagar.

At the PCMC station, the service extends up to areas like Kalewadi Phata, aiming to provide seamless connectivity for daily commuters travelling to and from the metro.

However, commuters have raised concerns over the lack of consistency and low frequency of these services. Many reported long waiting times, especially on routes like the airport feeder service from Yerawada, where passengers sometimes have to wait 30–40 minutes for a bus.

Passengers have demanded that bus frequency be increased to at least once every 10 minutes to make the service reliable and practical for daily use.

Officials acknowledged the issues and said improvements are expected in the coming months. They added that surveys are underway to identify new routes and enhance service efficiency. At stations with space constraints, authorities are also planning to introduce dedicated autorickshaw feeder services as an alternative.

The move is part of a larger strategy to boost Pune Metro ridership by addressing last-mile connectivity challenges, though consistent operations remain a key demand from commuters.
