Maharashtra to Develop 50-Acre Gaming & Creator Hub Near Navi Mumbai Airport

Date:

Mumbai, March 19, 2026: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday announced plans to build a state-of-the-art digital and gaming hub across 50 acres near the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport.

The initiative aims to create a comprehensive ecosystem for gaming, content creation, and digital innovation in the state.

One-Stop Destination for Gaming and Content Creators

The proposed hub will feature:

  • Modern e-sports arenas
  • Advanced content creation studios
  • Plug-and-play digital infrastructure

It is envisioned as a one-stop destination for creators, gamers, and startups, enabling seamless collaboration and production.

12 AVGC Hubs to Strengthen Creative Ecosystem

CM Fadnavis highlighted that 12 AVGC (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics) hubs are being developed across Maharashtra to support game development and creative industries.

These hubs are expected to:

  • Promote innovation in gaming and animation
  • Provide infrastructure and mentorship
  • Position Maharashtra as a leader in the AVGC sector

Boost to Creator Economy and Monetisation

Addressing concerns around content monetisation, the Chief Minister said the government is working to bridge the gap between creators and brands.

He revealed discussions with YouTube CEO Neal Mohan to strengthen the creator ecosystem, backed by the state’s AVGC policy.

Training and Career Opportunities for Youth

To support aspiring creators, the government has established the Indian Institute of Creative Technology (IICT), which will operate on a hub-and-spoke model.

The institute will offer:

  • Professional training in gaming and animation
  • Industry-relevant infrastructure
  • Clear career pathways for students

Digital Infrastructure Expansion Across Villages

Fadnavis also shared updates on digital connectivity:

  • Fibre network has reached 70% of Maharashtra’s 40,000 villages
  • Target to provide high-speed, lag-free internet to all villages within 2–3 years

Vision for a Digital-First Maharashtra

The Chief Minister said that the state is actively building a robust ecosystem to support:

  • Gaming and e-sports
  • Creator economy
  • Education and skill development
  • Digital infrastructure

Responding to a suggestion about 24×7 live streaming of the CMO, he said the government will explore using live platforms to showcase key projects and decision-making processes.
