Maharashtra Provides 21.7 Crore Medical Aid to 2,514 Patients Under CM Fund

Date:

Mumbai/Thane, April 2026: The Maharashtra government has provided ₹21.7 crore in financial assistance to 2,514 patients in Thane district under the Chief Minister’s Medical Assistance Fund, highlighting its role in supporting economically weaker sections.

Financial Aid for Critical Treatments

Officials said the assistance was distributed during the 2025–26 financial year, helping patients who are not covered under other government health schemes.

The fund covers treatment for around 20 serious illnesses, including:

  • Cancer and chemotherapy
  • Organ transplants
  • Dialysis
  • Accident-related injuries
  • Neonatal conditions

Improved System Boosts Access

Authorities credited recent reforms for faster and more transparent delivery of aid, including:

  • Establishment of district-level medical assistance cells
  • Introduction of a paperless application system
  • Faster processing and approvals

These changes have made it easier for patients to access financial support without delays.

CSR Support for Cancer Treatment

A notable initiative under the scheme is a tripartite collaboration involving the CM Relief Fund cell, BPCL Foundation, and Tata Memorial Centre, aimed at supporting paediatric cancer treatment through CSR funding.

Wider Impact Across Maharashtra

Statewide, the scheme has benefited over 40,000 patients, with total assistance exceeding ₹333 crore during the same period.

Eligibility Criteria

To avail benefits, applicants must:

  • Belong to economically weaker sections
  • Meet income criteria (typically low-income households)
  • Not be covered under other government health schemes

Strengthening Healthcare Support

The Chief Minister’s Medical Assistance Fund continues to serve as a critical lifeline for patients requiring expensive treatments, ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent access to essential healthcare.
