Prime Minister Narendra Modi will distribute incentive amounts totalling approximately 2,400 crore rupees under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana (PM-VBRY) at a special event held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on Friday at 5 PM.
Ahead of the event, Prime Minister Modi posted on the social media platform ‘X’:
“At 5 PM today, I will participate in a program where incentive amounts worth approximately 2,400 crore rupees will be distributed under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana’. This is a significant part of our efforts to empower our youth, aiming to boost employment opportunities and expand the scope of social security.”
Key highlights of the scheme:
– A one-time incentive of up to 15,000 for youth securing their first job.
– Incentives of up to 3,000 per employee per month for employers hiring new staff.
– Benefits for up to 4 years for employers in the manufacturing sector and up to 2 years for other sectors.
– The scheme commenced on August 1, 2025.
– So far, 15 lakh new employment opportunities have been created across the country.
– Total budget: 99,446 crore.
– Target over two years: More than 3.5 crore jobs, including 1.92 crore youth entering the workforce for the first time.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, this disbursement marks a significant milestone in the implementation of ‘PM-VBRY’. ‘PM-VBRY’ is the Government of India’s flagship employment-linked incentive scheme, aimed at accelerating job creation, formalizing employment, enhancing employability, and expanding social security coverage across all sectors. Through this incentive, 15 lakh employment opportunities have already been created nationwide.
The ‘PM-VBRY’ scheme aims to encourage both workers and employers to participate in the formal economy. Under this scheme, first-time employees receive an incentive of up to ₹15,000, providing significant support for their entry into the workforce. Employers who generate additional employment receive an incentive of up to ₹3,000 per month for each additional employee, thereby encouraging sustained job creation.
Recognizing the strategic importance of manufacturing in driving economic growth, employers in the manufacturing sector are eligible to receive incentives for a period of four years, whereas employers in all other sectors can avail of the benefits for two years.
This scheme reflects the government’s commitment to fostering an environment conducive to employment-led growth and ensuring that the benefits of India’s economic progress translate into quality formal employment opportunities for its youth. Notably, the government views this as a crucial initiative towards realizing the goal of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India). During the event, Prime Minister Modi will also address the youth beneficiaries and employers participating in the scheme.
