UP Launches Real-Time Portal to Track Rooftop Solar Installations Under PM Surya Ghar Scheme

Date:

In a major step to accelerate renewable energy adoption, the Uttar Pradesh government is set to introduce a digital portal that will enable real-time tracking of rooftop solar installations, bringing greater transparency and efficiency to the system.

The proposed platform will function as a centralised monitoring system, allowing authorities to track every stage of rooftop solar projects—from application and approval to installation and power generation—in real time. Officials said the move is aimed at eliminating delays and ensuring faster execution of solar projects across the state.

The portal will integrate data from power distribution companies (DISCOMs), vendors, and consumers, enabling seamless coordination between all stakeholders. Through this system, authorities will be able to monitor installation progress, system performance, and electricity generation data instantly, helping identify bottlenecks and resolve issues quickly.

A key feature of the portal will be its ability to provide live status updates on applications and installations, making the process more transparent for consumers. Users will be able to track their application status, monitor project timelines, and access subsidy-related information through a single digital interface.

Officials said the system will also help in tracking targets under government schemes, ensuring that implementation remains on schedule. It will support data-driven decision-making, allowing policymakers to assess performance, optimise resources, and plan future expansion of rooftop solar capacity.

The initiative comes at a time when Uttar Pradesh is witnessing rapid growth in rooftop solar adoption, driven by government schemes, simplified procedures, and financial incentives. The introduction of digital tracking is expected to further strengthen this momentum. ()

The portal aligns with broader national efforts to streamline solar adoption, where online systems have already enabled easier applications, faster approvals, and real-time tracking of installation progress, significantly improving efficiency. ()

Officials added that the platform will enhance accountability among vendors and agencies, reduce processing time, and ensure timely delivery of subsidies and services.

With this move, the state aims to create a more transparent, user-friendly, and technology-driven ecosystem for rooftop solar, encouraging more households and businesses to shift towards clean and sustainable energy solutions.
