Maharashtra Dy CM Eknath Shinde Unveils Ambitious Housing Policy, Slams Congress Over Operation Sindoor Remarks

Date:

Mumbai — Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Thursday announced a comprehensive New Housing Policy aimed at transforming the state’s urban and rural housing landscape. Speaking at a press conference, Shinde revealed that the government has set a target to build 35 lakh houses by 2030 with an estimated investment of ₹70,000 crore.

He emphasized the policy’s inclusivity, stating, “People of every category and class are included.” A key feature of the plan is the introduction of an AI-based State Housing Information Portal, which will offer transparent access to real-time housing availability. Shinde also reiterated the state’s commitment to slum redevelopment, promising structured cluster development projects to upgrade informal settlements across Maharashtra.

In addition to the housing announcement, Shinde strongly criticized Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for describing Operation Sindoor as a “small war.” He remarked, “When the 26/11 attacks happened, not even a word was uttered by them. This time, India showed intolerance against Pakistan… Did they (Congress) show such will power back then?”

He further accused the Congress of undermining national unity, saying, “These people are speaking the language of Pakistan.”

The Deputy CM’s statements underscore the state’s dual focus on development and national security, blending long-term welfare initiatives with strong political messaging ahead of the general elections.
