Fadnavis Responds to RSS Event Criticism, Congratulates BJP Mayor, Announces Key Infrastructure Push

Date:

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday addressed a range of political and development-related issues, responding to criticism of the RSS centenary event, congratulating the newly elected BJP mayor in Chandrapur, and outlining major infrastructure and irrigation decisions taken by the state government.

Reacting to remarks by MNS chief Raj Thackeray on the RSS’s 100-year event, Fadnavis said that criticism was coming largely from those who were not invited. He stated that people from different sections of society were invited to the event to clarify doubts and misconceptions regarding the RSS. According to the Chief Minister, participants engaged in detailed discussions over two days, received guidance, and had their questions answered. He dismissed what he termed as continued “anti-Sangh propaganda,” saying such narratives do not reflect the broader public understanding.

Fadnavis also congratulated the BJP mayor elected in Chandrapur, describing the development as a positive outcome at the local level. He noted that the first meeting of the civic body took place following the demise of senior leader Ajit Pawar, during which a condolence resolution was passed.

On infrastructure, the Chief Minister announced that a new airport will be developed at Purandar, with nearly 96 per cent of affected residents having given their consent. He said land acquisition orders are expected to be issued by June 1, adding that the project would significantly boost the concept of “Third Mumbai” and regional connectivity.

Fadnavis further revealed that around 40 water resource projects worth ₹15,000 crore have been approved through NABARD. These projects, including canal works, are expected to bring irrigation to nearly eight lakh hectares of land across the state.

The announcements underscore the state government’s focus on infrastructure expansion, agricultural support, and administrative continuity.
