Date:

Mumbai: Commuters travelling on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway are advised to plan ahead, as traffic restrictions will be imposed on April 23 and 24 due to ongoing bridge maintenance work.

According to officials, the block will be in place for three hours (12 PM to 3 PM) on both days to facilitate shuttering removal and painting work on a bridge near Dongargaon–Kusgaon.

Key Traffic Changes

  • April 23 (Mumbai-bound traffic):
Vehicles heading towards Mumbai will face a complete closure during the block hours.
  • April 24 (Pune-bound traffic):
Traffic towards Pune will remain fully suspended from 12 PM to 3 PM.

Diversion Routes

  • For Mumbai-bound vehicles (April 23):
Diverted via Kiwale – Dehu Road – Talegaon route onto NH-48, rejoining at Kusgaon toll plaza.
  • For Pune-bound vehicles (April 24):
Diverted from Kusgaon toll plaza via NH-48 through Dehu Road – Kiwale route.

Advisory for Commuters

Authorities have warned that the restrictions may lead to traffic congestion and delays, especially during peak hours. Motorists are advised to:

  • Plan journeys in advance
  • Use alternate routes where possible
  • Avoid travel during block hours if not necessary

The Mumbai–Pune Expressway, one of India’s busiest corridors, frequently undergoes maintenance to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow.

Overall, while the temporary block may cause short-term inconvenience, officials say the work is essential to maintain infrastructure quality and ensure safer travel on the route.
