Shiv Sena Leader Manisha Kayande Defends Waqf Bill After Presidential Approval

Date:

Mumbai, MaharashtraShiv Sena leader Manisha Kayande expressed her strong support for the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, which recently received the President’s approval and became law. In a statement, Kayande defended the passage of the bill, emphasizing that it had undergone thorough scrutiny and discussions in Parliament before being passed with a majority.

“The bill has been passed in the Parliament with a majority, after hours of discussion, and after a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) in which each party was given a chance to put in suggestions,” Kayande said. She highlighted the democratic process followed in the bill’s passage, stressing that the concerns of all parties had been taken into account.

Kayande further dismissed opposition claims and attempts to create confusion around the bill. “How can their case stand in the court when the bill has been passed in the house, the highest authority to make laws?” she argued. According to her, those opposing the bill were simply attempting to mislead the public by “setting a fake narrative” to create confusion.

The Waqf (Amendment) Bill, which aims to bring reforms in the management of Waqf properties, has been a contentious topic. While some political factions have criticized it, Kayande’s comments underscore the Shiv Sena’s support for the bill and its faith in the parliamentary process.

Her statement came as a rebuttal to critics of the bill, aiming to reassure the public about its legitimacy and the careful, inclusive process by which it was passed. As the new law begins to take effect, political leaders like Kayande are working to counter opposition narratives and emphasize the bill’s positive intent in promoting transparency and accountability in managing religious properties.
