Mumbai: Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC on Thursday described India’s successful bid to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games as a “very big win” for the nation, marking a major milestone for Indian sports after a gap of two decades. Her remarks came shortly after the official confirmation that Ahmedabad will be the venue for the prestigious multi-sport event.
Speaking to the media, Shaina NC expressed pride and optimism over India returning to the global sporting spotlight. “This is a very big win for India. For the first time in 20 years, we have received this opportunity. We are going to host a multi-sport event at the Commonwealth Games to be held in Ahmedabad in the year 2030,” she said. According to her, the decision reflects the international community’s growing trust in India’s organisational capabilities and its readiness to host world-class sporting events.
She highlighted that the Commonwealth Games will not only promote sports development across the country but also bring substantial economic and infrastructural benefits to Gujarat. “This will create jobs, improve sports infrastructure, and bring global attention to Ahmedabad as a modern, forward-looking city,” she noted.
Shaina NC also credited India’s improved global standing and the government’s consistent investment in sports and youth development for making this achievement possible. She said the event would inspire a new generation of athletes and strengthen India’s ambitions of becoming a leading sporting nation.
With preparations expected to begin soon, Shaina NC expressed confidence that India will deliver a “spectacular and memorable” Commonwealth Games in 2030, showcasing its cultural diversity, sporting spirit, and modern capabilities to the world.
