PM Modi Calls for Faster Push on Alternative Energy Sources

Date:

Narendra Modi has urged states to accelerate the adoption of biofuels, solar energy, the GOBAR-DHAN initiative, electric mobility, and piped natural gas (PNG) connections as part of India’s long-term energy security strategy.

The Prime Minister also stressed the need to expand domestic oil and natural gas exploration with active support from state governments.

High-Level Review Meeting with CMs and LGs

The Prime Minister held a video conference meeting with Chief Ministers and Lieutenant Governors on Friday to review India’s preparedness in light of recent developments in West Asia and their possible impact on the country.

During the meeting, Narendra Modi appreciated the valuable suggestions shared by the state leaders and said these inputs would help manage the evolving situation effectively.

He emphasized the importance of vigilance, preparedness, and coordinated action to deal with emerging challenges.

‘Team India’ Approach Highlighted Again

Referring to India’s previous experience in handling global disruptions, the Prime Minister recalled the collective efforts made during the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said the Centre and states had worked together as “Team India” to minimize disruptions in supply chains, trade, and daily life, and that the same cooperative spirit remains India’s biggest strength in the current circumstances.

Continuous Monitoring and Adaptive Strategy

Narendra Modi said the situation is evolving continuously and requires constant monitoring and flexible strategies.

He informed that an inter-ministerial group has been active since March 3, reviewing developments on a daily basis and taking timely decisions.

The government’s key priorities include:

  • Economic and trade stability
  • Energy security
  • Citizen welfare
  • Strengthening industries and supply chains

Strict Action Against Hoarding and Profiteering

The Prime Minister directed states to ensure the smooth functioning of supply chains and take strict action against hoarding and profiteering.

He also asked state governments to activate control rooms at the state and district levels to prevent disruptions and maintain administrative alertness.

Special emphasis was laid on fertilizer storage and distribution to ensure farmers do not face difficulties during the upcoming Kharif season.

Warning Against Misinformation and Fraud

The Prime Minister cautioned against the spread of misinformation and rumors, stressing that timely and credible information is essential to prevent panic among citizens.

He also warned people to remain vigilant against online fraud and fake agents.

Special attention was advised for border and coastal states to address challenges related to shipping, essential supplies, and maritime operations.

States with citizens in West Asia were asked to activate helplines, appoint nodal officers, and establish district-level support systems for affected families.

Focus on Industry and MSME Stability

Narendra Modi also called for continued dialogue with industries and MSMEs to address their concerns and ensure stability in production and employment.

He stressed the need for regular reviews at the Chief Secretary level and continuous district-level monitoring to respond swiftly to changing conditions.

States Welcome Centre’s Measures

Chief Ministers praised the steps taken by the Centre under the Prime Minister’s leadership and appreciated diplomatic efforts to protect Indian citizens abroad.

They expressed confidence that the situation remains stable, with adequate availability of petrol, diesel, and LPG and robust monitoring mechanisms in place.

The states also welcomed the decision to reduce fuel excise duty and increase commercial LPG allocation from 50% to 70% of pre-crisis levels, calling it a major relief for citizens.
