MUMBAI – In a significant political development, Union Minister and Republican Party of India (Athawale) chief, Ramdas Athawale, met with Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, at his residence in Mumbai today. The meeting was held to discuss seat sharing for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024.

Athawale, a key ally of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has been a vocal advocate for the rights of the Dalit community and has a significant influence in Maharashtra politics. His meeting with Fadnavis, a senior BJP leader, is seen as a crucial step towards finalizing the seat-sharing arrangement between the two parties.

The meeting comes at a time when the political landscape is heating up in anticipation of the Lok Sabha elections. Both the BJP and RPI(A) are keen on consolidating their position in Maharashtra, a state that sends 48 members to the Lok Sabha, the highest after Uttar Pradesh.

While the details of the meeting were not immediately available, it is understood that both leaders discussed various issues related to the seat-sharing arrangement. The final decision is expected to be announced soon.

The meeting between Athawale and Fadnavis is a clear indication of the political maneuvering that is underway as parties gear up for the Lok Sabha elections. It remains to be seen how this meeting will shape the political alliances in Maharashtra and impact the electoral outcomes.
