Mumbai, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has sharply criticized senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh over his controversial 2010 remarks suggesting alternative theories about the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, including alleged involvement of the RSS.
Speaking to reporters in Mumbai, Fadnavis said, “First of all, I don’t respond to those who speak like idiots. When Kasab was executed, and after that, when David Headley’s statement was recorded in our judiciary, it became amply clear that this whole conspiracy was hatched in Pakistan.”
Fadnavis emphasized that the judicial process and international investigations had thoroughly established Pakistan’s role in the attacks, which killed over 160 people in 2008. He dismissed conspiracy theories implicating Indian organizations, calling them baseless and politically motivated.
“Those who propagate other conspiracy theories, I don’t want to respond to them,” he added. “Now the prime conspirator is in our custody and more things will come to light.”
While Fadnavis did not name the individual currently in custody, his statement is believed to refer to key operatives involved in the 26/11 plot, who have either been extradited or arrested in recent years.
The Chief Minister’s remarks come amid a renewed political flashpoint over Digvijaya Singh’s earlier comments, which have long drawn criticism from the BJP and right-wing organizations. With new developments unfolding in the 26/11 case, political tensions surrounding the attack’s legacy appear to be flaring up once again.
