Mumbai local train services affected by jumbo block on Sunday.

Date:

Mumbai: The Western Railway (WR) operated a jumbo block of five hours on the up and down fast lines between Santacruz and Goregaon stations on Sunday, February 11, 2024, to carry out maintenance work of tracks, signaling and overhead equipment. The block, which was announced on Friday, affected the suburban train services on the WR network, as some trains were cancelled, diverted or regulated.

According to a press release issued by Sumit Thakur, Chief Public Relations Officer of WR, during the block period, all up and down fast line trains were operated on the up and down slow lines between Santacruz and Goregaon stations. Due to this, some up and down suburban services remained cancelled. Also, some Andheri and Borivali trains were operated up to Goregaon on the Harbour line.

The WR also advised the passengers to take note of the block and plan their journey accordingly. The WR also said that it had made suitable arrangements for announcements at all stations and on local trains during the block period.

The WR also said that it had taken another block of one hour and 30 minutes on the up and down main lines between Kelve Road and Saphale stations on Friday and Saturday nights, and one hour and 15 minutes on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights, for dismantling and de-launching of PSC girders at Saphale Road Over Bridge. Due to this, some long-distance trains were regulated.

The WR also said that it had run four special trains on special fare from Bandra Terminus to Abu Road, Valsad to Raniwara, Udhna to Mavli and Udhna to Balotra on Friday, January 26, 2024, for the convenience of passengers and to clear extra passenger traffic.

The WR has been carrying out periodic maintenance work of tracks, signaling and overhead equipment to ensure safety and punctuality of train operations. The WR has also been upgrading its infrastructure and introducing new trains and services to cater to the growing demand of commuters.
