President Droupadi Murmu Highlights RBI’s Role in India’s Digital Payments Revolution at 90th Anniversary Closing Ceremony

Mumbai – President Droupadi Murmu delivered a key address at the closing ceremony commemorating the 90th anniversary of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), where she praised the institution for its instrumental role in transforming India into a global leader in digital payments.

Speaking at the event, President Murmu stated, “The RBI has played a key role in making India a global leader in digital payments by continuously modernising the country’s payment infrastructure.” She highlighted the critical steps taken by the RBI in adopting and promoting innovative technologies to ensure the financial sector remains robust and inclusive.

The President further acknowledged the RBI’s contribution to the growth of India’s fintech ecosystem, saying, “RBI has also nurtured a vibrant fintech ecosystem.” Through its policies, regulations, and vision, the RBI has supported the rise of fintech companies, facilitating new digital services that have made financial transactions more accessible to millions across India.

Underlining the RBI’s pivotal role in advancing India’s financial infrastructure, President Murmu emphasized how the institution has not only contributed to financial stability but also helped the nation harness the potential of technology to create a more inclusive and accessible financial system.

As the RBI celebrates its 90 years of service, President Murmu’s remarks serve as a recognition of the central bank’s continuing commitment to modernization, digital innovation, and its role in propelling India into the forefront of the global digital economy.
