Mumbai – President Droupadi Murmu, at the closing ceremony marking the 90th anniversary of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), lauded the central bank’s significant contributions over the years and its alignment with the government’s vision and policies. She emphasized that the RBI’s journey has been pivotal in shaping India’s financial ecosystem and supporting the country’s progress.

“RBI’s remarkable journey over the past 90 years has been aligned with the vision and policies of the government,” President Murmu stated, acknowledging the central bank’s strategic role in driving India’s economic growth. She noted that as India prepares to celebrate the centenary of its independence, the mission of Viksit Bharat 2047 (Developed India by 2047) demands a financial ecosystem that is “innovative, adaptive, and accessible to all.”

President Murmu emphasized that achieving this vision for India’s future requires continued modernization of the financial system, ensuring that it meets the needs of a rapidly growing, digitally connected, and diverse population. The mission of Viksit Bharat 2047 envisions India as a developed nation, with a strong and inclusive financial infrastructure that empowers all sectors of society.

In her speech, the President reiterated that the RBI’s past accomplishments have laid a solid foundation, but the next steps in India’s financial evolution must focus on innovation, adaptability, and accessibility for all citizens, especially in the context of a digital and globalized economy.

As the RBI commemorates its 90 years of service, President Murmu’s address highlighted the crucial role the central bank will play in realizing India’s future goals, aligning with the country’s broader aspirations of becoming a developed and inclusive nation by 2047.
