New Toll Policy for National Highways to Be Announced in 15 Days, Says Nitin Gadkari

Date:

Mumbai: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari announced that a new toll policy addressing public concerns will be introduced within the next 15 days. Speaking at the 78th Vasant Vyakhyanmala organized by Amar Hind Mandal in Mumbai, Gadkari hinted at major reforms aimed at easing toll-related issues for commuters on national highways.

“I won’t talk much about tolls, but within 15 days, such a policy will come, where you will not have any complaints about tolls,” Gadkari said, while making it clear that his remarks pertain specifically to national highways, not Maharashtra’s state toll roads.

Though the minister did not share details of the upcoming policy, his statement has generated anticipation, particularly among highway users frequently raising concerns about toll rates, multiple toll booths, and payment systems.

Gadkari’s announcement comes amid ongoing efforts by the central government to modernize India’s road infrastructure and streamline toll collection through technologies like FASTag and GPS-based tolling.
