CM Fadnavis Orders Strict Measures Against Overstaying Pakistani Nationals Post-Pahalgam Attack

Date:

Mumbai, Maharashtra | In the wake of the tragic Pahalgam terrorist attack, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced strong action aligning with the Centre’s decision to suspend visa services for Pakistani nationals. Speaking to the media, Fadnavis confirmed that state authorities have been directed to identify and monitor all Pakistani nationals currently present in Maharashtra.

“We have sought a list of Pakistani nationals who have come to India. They are being identified, and police officials have been instructed to ensure that no Pakistani national stays in Maharashtra for more than 48 hours,” Fadnavis said. He further emphasized that any Pakistani citizen found overstaying will face strict legal action.

The decision follows the Union government’s directive to revoke all visas issued to Pakistani nationals, except for diplomatic, official, and long-term visas, effective April 27. Medical visas have been given a short grace period and remain valid only until April 29.

These developments come amid nationwide outrage over the Pahalgam attack, which claimed multiple innocent lives. CM Fadnavis’ directive highlights Maharashtra’s proactive stance in tightening internal security and ensuring that no suspicious individuals exploit Indian hospitality during such sensitive times.
