Eknath Shinde: Mumbai Is Always a Target, Armed Forces Given Free Hand Under PM Modi

Date:

In the backdrop of ongoing national security concerns, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced that a high-level security meeting was conducted involving the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Civil Defence. The meeting focused on bolstering Mumbai’s preparedness, including the potential appointment of a nodal officer to coordinate security efforts.

Shinde stressed that Mumbai, being the financial capital, is perennially vulnerable to threats and remains a prime target. He thanked the armed forces for their strong response to recent provocations and lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for granting them a free hand in responding to threats—something he claimed no previous government had dared to do, regardless of how severe the situation was.

The Deputy CM’s remarks underscore the state government’s efforts to ramp up coordination between civil and military agencies to ensure maximum vigilance and preparedness in one of the country’s most critical urban centers.
