Thane — Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has urged citizens to remain calm and follow safety guidelines as the monsoon arrives 15 days earlier than usual, marking a rare meteorological occurrence in recent decades.
Speaking to reporters in Thane, Shinde acknowledged that while the early rains caused some inconvenience, the State Disaster Management teams and Mumbai Corporation have been actively monitoring the situation to prevent losses and minimize disruptions.
“We are making arrangements so that nobody faces difficulties in the upcoming monsoons,” he said, adding that the state disaster relief team is preparing in accordance with the Orange Alert warning.
Calling for unity and compassion over politics, Shinde emphasized, “This is not the time for politics, only the time to help people, ensuring zero casualties.”
He also appealed to the public to stay alert and take precautions, especially in disaster-prone areas and during red alert situations. “Government officials are working on the field, but citizens must also avoid risky areas and follow weather advisories,” he added.
