Mumbai BJP MLA Supports Renaming of Islampur to Ishwarpur, Cites Cultural Restoration

Date:

Mumbai: Amid growing discussions around the proposed renaming of Islampur to Ishwarpur in Maharashtra, BJP MLA Ram Kadam has come out in support of the move. He stated that the renaming reflects a broader effort to restore India’s cultural and historical identity, which was altered during periods of foreign rule.

“An era came where a lot of regions were renamed by the invaders,” said Kadam. “If an MLA has raised the demand to rename a place, it aligns with the government’s intention to bring back its culture and heritage. Will the invaders decide what the name of our lands will be?”

Kadam further emphasized that the government remains positive towards issues related to Hindutva and cultural revival. The statement comes at a time when similar proposals across India have sparked debates over historical names and their contemporary relevance.

While the renaming proposal has not yet been formally approved, it is expected to spark political debate within Maharashtra and beyond.
