Shiv Sena’s Shaina NC Slams Bombay HC Verdict in 2006 Train Blast Case, Backs State’s Appeal to SC

Date:

Mumbai— Reacting strongly to the Bombay High Court’s acquittal of all 12 accused in the 2006 Mumbai train bombings case, Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC called the verdict “shocking” and urged for a serious and united legal response.

“The Bombay High Court’s acquittal of 12 accused in the 2006 Mumbai 7/11 train blast has been shocking. I am glad the Chief Minister and government oppose the verdict, and the Maharashtra government will challenge it in the Supreme Court,” Shaina said on Monday.

She expressed hope that the apex court would take a deeper look into the case and ensure justice is served. “We hope the court will scrutinise further to ensure justice for the victims,” she said, adding that the accused “pose a threat to society, and this issue must be addressed seriously and with complete cohesion.”

Shaina firmly stated, “The perpetrators cannot be left scot-free,” reflecting the broader sentiment of anger and disappointment among citizens and political leaders over the acquittal.

The 2006 train blasts killed over 180 people and injured hundreds, marking one of the deadliest terror attacks in India. The state government has confirmed it will file an appeal against the High Court’s decision in the Supreme Court.
