Maharashtra Mandates Purchase of Fish Meal from Local Companies: Minister Nitesh Rane

Date:

Mumbai — In a move aimed at strengthening local industries and improving the quality of fish production, Maharashtra Fisheries Minister Nitesh Rane announced that it is now mandatory to purchase fish meal only from Maharashtra-based companies.

Addressing the media, Rane stated, “Today, the companies producing fish meal in Maharashtra are largely from outside the state. We have now made it mandatory that if you want to buy fish meal, you will have to buy it from a Maharashtra-based company.” He confirmed that a circular to this effect has been issued by the Fisheries Department.

The decision is expected to boost local businesses, improve fish meal quality, and positively impact the state’s overall fish production. Industry experts believe the move could lead to more employment opportunities within Maharashtra and promote sustainable practices in the fisheries sector.

The directive reflects the government’s focus on promoting self-reliance and regional economic growth, aligning with the broader goals of the “Make in Maharashtra” initiative.
