Baijayant Panda Slams Past Inaction on National Security, Highlights Change Under Modi Government

Date:

BJP MP Baijayant Panda, addressing the Lok Sabha, criticized past governments for their historical inaction on key national security issues. Referring to incidents such as the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks and the 2006 Mumbai train bombings, Panda said, “Those who did nothing for centuries on Mumbai attacks, Mumbai train attack… Those who have always sacrificed the interests of the nation for centuries, be it Aksai Chin, PoK, Indus waters…”

He added that successive administrations compromised on matters crucial to national sovereignty, citing the loss of Aksai Chin, inaction on Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK), and decisions like the Indus Waters Treaty. Panda emphasized that he had placed several examples of decisive changes in India’s approach under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

His remarks come amid an ongoing parliamentary debate where BJP leaders are showcasing the government’s proactive stance on national security, particularly following Operation Sindoor and India’s firm diplomatic messaging on global platforms.
