Residents of Breach Candy in Mumbai are set to get relief as authorities have decided to restrict access to the much-talked-about musical road during nighttime hours.
This unique road, designed with special patterns that create musical sounds when vehicles pass over it, initially attracted attention as an innovative urban feature. However, over time, it turned into a source of disturbance for nearby residents.
Night-Time Noise Became Major Concern
Local residents had raised repeated complaints about noise pollution, especially during late-night hours. The sound generated by passing vehicles was reported to disrupt sleep and affect daily life.
According to residents, the noise intensified between 10 PM and early morning hours, often penetrating indoors and impacting children and elderly people the most.
ALM Intervention Leads to Action
Taking the issue seriously, the Advanced Locality Management (ALM) group of Breach Candy wrote to the Maharashtra government and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Commissioner, urging immediate intervention.
Following persistent complaints and appeals, the civic body has now taken a significant step to address the problem.
BMC Orders Night Barricading of Musical Road
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has announced that the musical road will be completely barricaded from 8 PM to 7 AM. During this period, no vehicles will be allowed to pass, effectively stopping the sound generated by tyre-road interaction.
This move is expected to bring much-needed peace and comfort to residents who had been struggling with nighttime disturbances.
Road to Remain Open During Daytime
While restrictions will apply at night, the road will remain open during the day, allowing visitors and commuters to continue experiencing the unique musical feature.
The decision strikes a balance between maintaining the attraction and ensuring the well-being of local residents. With this regulation in place, people living nearby can expect improved sleep quality and a more peaceful environment.
