Narendra Modi on Friday chaired a high-level video conference with Chief Ministers of all states and Lieutenant Governors of Union Territories to review Indiaโs preparedness in view of the emerging crisis in West Asia.

He described vigilance, preparedness, and strong Centre-State coordination as the countryโs biggest strengths in handling the crisis.

Drawing parallels with the COVID-19 pandemic, Narendra Modi said India had successfully managed global disruptions in the past through the โTeam Indiaโ approach, where the Centre and states worked together to minimize the impact on supply chains, trade, and public life.
He stressed that the same spirit of cooperation remains crucial today.
Daily Monitoring by Inter-Ministerial Group
The Prime Minister informed the meeting that an inter-ministerial group has been reviewing the situation daily since March 3, enabling the government to take timely decisions.

Strict Action Against Hoarding and Black Marketing
The Prime Minister directed states to ensure smooth supply chains and take strict action against hoarding and profiteering.
He also instructed authorities to activate control rooms at state and district levels, keep administrative systems on alert, and ensure uninterrupted availability of essential commodities.
Focus on Agriculture and Kharif Preparedness
Special emphasis was placed on the agricultural sector, with instructions to closely monitor fertilizer storage and distribution ahead of the upcoming Kharif season.
This is aimed at preventing any disruption for farmers due to the ongoing global situation.
Warning Against Rumours and Online Fraud
Narendra Modi cautioned that crises often lead to the rapid spread of misinformation and rumours, which can trigger panic among citizens.
He urged states to ensure timely dissemination of verified information and warned people to remain cautious of online fraud and fake agents.
Special Vigilance for Border and Coastal States
Border and coastal states were asked to remain especially alert to safeguard shipping routes, essential goods movement, and maritime activities.
States with citizens residing in West Asia were instructed to launch helplines, appoint nodal officers, and create district-level support systems for affected families.
Push for Long-Term Energy Security
The Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of long-term strategies such as:
- Biofuels
- Solar energy
- GOBAR-DHAN
- Electric mobility
- Expansion of piped natural gas
He also stressed the need to increase domestic oil and natural gas production with support from states.
Rajnath Singh Highlights Government Measures
Rajnath Singh said the government is actively working under the Prime Ministerโs leadership to manage the crisis.
He highlighted measures such as ensuring LPG availability and reducing excise duty on petrol and diesel to provide relief to citizens.
CMs Welcome Fuel Relief Measures
Chief Ministers participating in the meeting expressed confidence that petrol, diesel, and LPG supplies remain adequate and that the supply system is under constant monitoring.
They welcomed the reduction in excise duty on fuel and appreciated the increase in commercial LPG allocation to 70% of pre-crisis levels, up from 50%.
PM Concludes with Call for United Response
Concluding the meeting, Narendra Modi said the current challenge is a shared responsibility and reiterated that India will overcome it successfully through collective action as โTeam India.โ
