Centre, States Working Together to Boost Skill Development: Jayant Chaudhary at India Skills Competition

Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Jayant Chaudhary said that the Centre and State governments are working in close coordination to strengthen skill development across India.

He was addressing the India Skills National Competition 2025–26 held in Greater Noida.

India’s Growing Global Presence in Skills

The Minister praised the performance of Indian participants in international events such as WorldSkills Asia and expressed confidence that India will perform strongly at the upcoming global competition in Shanghai.

He noted that such platforms are helping to showcase India’s rising capabilities in the global skills ecosystem.

Over 650 Participants in National Competition

Highlighting the scale of the event, Jayant Chaudhary said:

  • Over 650 participants took part in the four-day competition
  • The event reflected the diversity and depth of talent across the country

Skill Development Key to Future Workforce

Emphasizing the importance of practical learning, the Minister said:

  • Skills alongside formal education are crucial in today’s world
  • Skill development is central to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047
  • The government is committed to boosting the sector through higher budget allocations

Massive Participation from Across India

The competition witnessed widespread participation:

  • Over 3.5 lakh applications received
  • Participation across 63 skill categories
  • Entries from 36 States and Union Territories

This highlights growing enthusiasm for skill-based education and training nationwide.

In a post on X, the Minister described the competition as a platform where:

  • Aspirations gain direction

He said such initiatives will inspire a new generation of skilled youth and strengthen India’s position on the global stage.
