Apple Inc. has unveiled the MacBook Neo, its most affordable laptop to date, aimed at making the Mac ecosystem accessible to a wider audience, including students and first-time users.

The new laptop features a 13-inch Liquid Retina display and is powered by the A18 Pro chip, marking the first time Apple has used an iPhone-series processor in a MacBook.

Affordable Entry-Level MacBook

The MacBook Neo starts at $599 globally and around ₹69,900 in India, making it the cheapest MacBook Apple has ever introduced.

The device is positioned as an entry-level MacBook, placed below the MacBook Air in Apple’s laptop lineup. The company aims to attract budget-conscious consumers and students while competing with entry-level Windows laptops and Chromebooks.

13-Inch Liquid Retina Display

The laptop features a 13-inch Liquid Retina display with a resolution of 2408 × 1506 pixels, brightness of up to 500 nits, and support for over one billion colors.

The display is designed to deliver sharp text and vibrant visuals, offering better brightness and clarity compared to many laptops in the same price range.

Powered by A18 Pro Chip

The A18 Pro chip, previously used in the iPhone 16 Pro lineup, powers the MacBook Neo and delivers improved performance and efficiency for everyday tasks and AI-based activities.

The laptop comes with 8GB unified memory and storage options of 256GB or 512GB SSD, designed to handle common computing tasks such as browsing, office work, and content streaming.

Battery Life and Key Features

The MacBook Neo offers up to 16 hours of battery life and includes several features such as:

  • 1080p FaceTime HD camera
  • Magic Keyboard and multi-touch trackpad
  • Two USB-C ports and headphone jack
  • Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth connectivity
  • Spatial audio support

The device runs on macOS Tahoe, Apple’s latest operating system.

Designed for Students and Everyday Users

Apple has positioned the MacBook Neo as a lightweight and portable laptop for everyday computing, including web browsing, studying, and productivity tasks.

The laptop is available in multiple color options such as silver, indigo, blush, and citrus, reflecting Apple’s focus on a youthful and vibrant design.

Industry experts say the launch of MacBook Neo reflects Apple’s strategy to expand its presence in the affordable laptop segment and attract a new generation of Mac users worldwide.
