Maharashtra CM Fadnavis Expresses Confidence in Eliminating Naxalism by 2026

Date:

Mumbai — Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today commended the Centre’s efforts under Prime Minister Narendra Modi in tackling the long-standing issue of Maoism in the country. Speaking to the media, CM Fadnavis stated that “effective work has been done against Maoism” during PM Modi’s tenure.

He referred to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement, asserting that active Naxalism or Maoism would be eliminated by March 2026. Fadnavis highlighted Maharashtra’s success in the past decade, noting that the state has conducted successful anti-Naxal operations, leading to improved security in affected regions.

Drawing a comparison with past administrations, Fadnavis said, “When there was a Congress government in Chhattisgarh, Naxalism was on the rise. But with the BJP now in power, we’ve intensified operations, including joint missions between states and central forces.”

He expressed strong optimism about the future, declaring, “I am confident that we will put an end to Naxalism in the coming years.”
