India Becomes Second Largest Steel Producer, Says Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan

Mumbai: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan highlighted India’s growing strength in the steel sector, proudly announcing that the country has become the second-largest steel producer in the world. Speaking at an industry event in Mumbai, the minister emphasized the strategic importance of the steel industry in India’s journey towards self-reliance.

“Today, India has become the second largest steel producer of the world,” Pradhan stated. “In the coming days, the domestic consumption of India will increase,” he added, pointing to the nation’s expanding infrastructure, industrial, and housing demands.

Pradhan underlined the critical role of the steel sector in driving India’s economic growth and in realizing the vision of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India). “The steel sector plays a big role in making India ‘Aatmanirbhar’,” he noted.

As the government continues to focus on boosting domestic production and reducing dependency on imports, the steel industry stands as a key pillar in building a robust and resilient economy. The minister’s statement reflects confidence in India’s industrial capacity and the government’s ongoing push for manufacturing-led development.
