Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has weighed in on the ongoing controversy surrounding YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia’s remarks during a recent show. Speaking to the media, Fadnavis acknowledged the issue, stating that while he had not yet seen the show, he believed the remarks had been presented in an inappropriate manner.
“I have come to know about it. I have not seen it yet. Things have been said and presented in a wrong way,” Fadnavis remarked. He further emphasized the importance of freedom of speech, while highlighting the limits of such freedom, especially when it infringes upon the rights of others. “Everyone has freedom of speech but our freedom ends when we encroach upon the freedom of others,” he added.
Fadnavis also pointed out that society has established certain norms and rules, and when those rules are violated, it is necessary to take action. “In our society, we have made some rules, if someone violates them it is absolutely wrong and action should be taken against them,” he stated.
The controversy erupted after Ranveer Allahbadia made remarks that some viewers and public figures considered offensive or inappropriate, sparking debates about the limits of free expression in the digital age. The CM’s statement underlines the state’s commitment to maintaining public decorum and ensuring that freedom of speech is exercised responsibly.
