The Government of Maharashtra has decided to establish special district-level committees to ensure the uninterrupted supply of domestic and commercial LPG cylinders across the state.
The decision comes amid concerns over global fuel supply disruptions linked to the ongoing Iran–Israel conflict.
Instructions Issued to Monitor LPG Distribution
Anil Diggikar, Additional Chief Secretary of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department of Maharashtra, has directed all concerned agencies to take necessary steps to maintain smooth LPG distribution across the state.
Authorities have been asked to closely monitor LPG supplies and ensure that there are no disruptions in availability.
District-Level Committees to Oversee Supply Chain
Each district committee will include:
- District Collector
- Superintendent of Police
- District Supply Officer
- Officials from government gas companies
These committees will be responsible for monitoring the LPG supply chain, maintaining law and order, and submitting daily status reports to the government.
Priority Supply for Essential Services
The government has directed that priority LPG supply be ensured for essential public services, including:
- Hospitals
- Government hostels
- Mess facilities in government schools and colleges
- Midday Meal Scheme
- Government-run residential schools
Officials said the measures are intended to prevent any disruption in essential services and ensure continuous availability of cooking gas for citizens.
The state government is also monitoring the situation closely to maintain stable LPG supply and avoid panic or shortages amid global uncertainties.
