Mukesh Ambani Announces ₹10 Lakh Crore Investment to Power India’s AI Transformation at India AI Impact Summit 2026

New Delhi: Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited, Mukesh Ambani, on Thursday announced a massive ₹10 lakh crore investment over the next seven years to accelerate India’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) revolution.

Addressing the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi, Ambani described the commitment as long-term, disciplined and nation-focused capital aimed at building durable economic value and strategic resilience.

“This is not a speculative investment. It is patient, disciplined, nation-building capital,” he said.

Reliance-Jio’s Three-Pronged AI Strategy

Ambani outlined a comprehensive roadmap to transition India from the internet era to what he called the “intelligence era.”

1. From Connectivity to Intelligence

Jio will move beyond connectivity to deliver AI-driven intelligence across sectors.

“Jio connected India to the internet era. Jio will now connect India to the intelligence era,” Ambani said, adding that AI solutions will reach citizens, businesses, government services and social development initiatives.

2. ₹10 Lakh Crore AI Investment

Reliance and Jio will collectively invest ₹10 lakh crore over seven years starting this year, reinforcing India’s ambition to become a global AI powerhouse.

3. Sovereign Computing Infrastructure

Ambani detailed three major initiatives to build India’s sovereign AI infrastructure:

  • Gigawatt-Scale Data Centres: Construction of multi-gigawatt AI-ready data centres has begun in Jamnagar, with over 120 MW expected to become operational in the second half of 2026.
  • Green Energy Integration: Up to 10 gigawatts of surplus renewable energy, primarily solar from Kutch and Andhra Pradesh, will power AI infrastructure sustainably.
  • Nationwide Edge Computing Network: A distributed edge computing layer integrated with Jio’s network will deliver low-latency, affordable AI services across India.

Making AI Affordable and Inclusive

Ambani stressed that India must develop its own AI capabilities instead of “renting intelligence.” He pledged to reduce the cost of AI services as dramatically as Jio reduced mobile data prices.

He also emphasised that AI benefits must extend beyond large enterprises to agriculture, MSMEs, artisans and the informal sector, ensuring broad-based economic inclusion.

Launch of ‘Jio AI Bharat’ Multilingual Platform

Ambani unveiled “Jio AI Bharat,” a multilingual AI platform designed to function across Indian languages. The initiative aims to empower farmers, students and small businesses to interact with AI in their native languages, strengthening digital inclusion.

AI to Create Jobs, Not Replace Them

Addressing concerns around automation, Ambani said AI will create high-skilled employment opportunities rather than eliminate jobs. He confirmed that Jio will collaborate with leading global technology companies to strengthen India’s AI ecosystem.

India’s Digital Strength as Foundation

Ambani highlighted India’s digital transformation over the past decade, noting that the country now has nearly one billion internet users and is the world’s largest mobile data consumer. He credited digital public infrastructure systems such as Aadhaar and UPI for setting global benchmarks in scale and inclusion.

India’s AI Future

“India will emerge as one of the greatest AI powers in the 21st century,” Ambani said, citing the country’s strengths in demography, democracy and data generation.

With the ₹10 lakh crore AI investment plan, Reliance and Jio aim to position India at the forefront of global artificial intelligence innovation while ensuring sustainable, inclusive and sovereign digital growth.
