Indian Coast Guard to Acquire 14 Fast Patrol Vessels.

In a significant move to bolster the maritime security of the nation, the Ministry of Defence has signed a contract with Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd (MDL), Mumbai. The contract, signed on 24 January, 2024, is for the acquisition of 14 Fast Patrol Vessels (FPVs) for the Indian Coast Guard (ICG). The value of the contract is Rs 1070.47 crore, as confirmed by the Office of the Defence Minister.

The acquisition of these Fast Patrol Vessels is a strategic step towards enhancing the operational capability of the Indian Coast Guard. These vessels will play a crucial role in securing India’s maritime interests and safeguarding the nation’s coastal frontiers.

Fast Patrol Vessels are high-speed boats designed for a variety of missions. They are equipped with advanced navigation and communication equipment, making them ideal for patrolling, anti-smuggling, anti-drug surveillance, and search and rescue operations.
