Prime Minister Modi Calls Out MVA Government Over Marathwada’s Farming Woes

Date:

In a recent public meeting in Parbhani, Maharashtra, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a strong stance on the farming issues plaguing the Marathwada region. He criticized the Congress and the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) for their alleged indifference towards the farmers’ struggles.

“Marathwada is primarily a farming region. The livelihood of the people here depends on crops like black cotton, soybean, and jowar bajra,” the Prime Minister said, emphasizing the agricultural backbone of the region. However, he expressed his dissatisfaction with the Congress and MVA, accusing them of failing to comprehend the farmers’ hardships.

Irrigation, according to the Prime Minister, is the region’s most pressing issue. He reminisced about the Jalyukt Shivar Scheme, an initiative launched during the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government’s tenure. The scheme was designed to make Maharashtra drought-free by 2019 by enhancing soil moisture in farms and revitalizing water bodies.

However, the Prime Minister expressed his disappointment over the MVA government’s decision to halt the scheme. “The MVA stopped this scheme,” he lamented, expressing concern over the potential impact on Marathwada’s farmers.

The Prime Minister’s comments come at a time when the agricultural sector is grappling with a multitude of challenges. His remarks have ignited a fresh discussion on the efficacy of the MVA government’s policies in addressing these issues.

The ball is now in the MVA government’s court as they are yet to respond to the Prime Minister’s criticisms. The farming community and the people of Maharashtra are eagerly awaiting their response.
