Maharashtra – Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a recent public meeting in Parbhani, Maharashtra, offered a retrospective on the evolution of India’s national security over the last decade.
Drawing a stark contrast between the security scenario in 2014 and 2019, Modi said, “In 2014, when I was contesting the Lok Sabha elections for the first time, the topics of discussion were quite different.” He reminisced about a time when the nation was in the grip of fear due to frequent terrorist attacks and bomb blasts, which dominated the news and public discourse.
However, by 2019, the narrative had undergone a significant shift. The discussions around cross-border attacks had dwindled, replaced by talks of surgical strikes and a newfound confidence encapsulated in the phrase ‘Yeh toh Modi hai ghar mein ghus kar marega’ (This is Modi, he will strike in their own house).
This transformation, as highlighted by the Prime Minister, signifies a paradigm shift in India’s approach to national security. From being on the defensive against cross-border terrorism, the country has transitioned to a more assertive stance, taking the fight to the enemy’s territory.
