Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has emphasized the central government’s commitment to the development of Maharashtra, pointing to the allocation of Rs 76,000 crores for the Vadhavan Port project as a major example. Speaking to the media, Sitharaman highlighted that it was the Modi government that made this critical decision, showcasing its support for the state’s growth and infrastructure development.

She stated, “I want to give an example, which government took the decision of allocating Rs 76,000 crores for the Vadhavan Port? Was it not the Modi government? It is a big project for Maharashtra and this decision was taken by PM Modi. We never forget the importance of Maharashtra as a business and industry-friendly state.”

The Vadhavan Port, a significant port development project in Maharashtra, is expected to enhance the state’s maritime trade and contribute significantly to the local economy. Sitharaman’s remarks come as part of a broader defense of the Modi government’s ongoing support for Maharashtra, which remains a vital hub for business and industrial activity in India.

The Finance Minister’s statement is likely to resonate in the ongoing political discourse, as the state continues to receive attention for both its economic contributions and political dynamics.
