Union Minister Pralhad Joshi Condemns Violence Over Maharashtra-Karnataka Bus Controversy

Date:

Amid the ongoing controversy over bus services between Maharashtra and Karnataka, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi condemned the recent violence in Belagavi, where a KSRTC bus conductor was allegedly beaten up on February 22 for not speaking in Marathi.

Speaking on the issue, Joshi stated that damaging public property is unacceptable and such incidents should not be tolerated. “Damaging public property is not a correct thing. Differences between states should be addressed through dialogue and mutual understanding, not violence,” he said.

The incident has sparked tensions between the two neighboring states, with Maharashtra and Karnataka historically having linguistic and border disputes. The attack on the KSRTC bus conductor has led to discussions about language sensitivities and inter-state relations.

The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) and the Maharashtra government have both urged people to maintain peace and harmony. Officials from both states are expected to hold discussions to prevent further escalation.

Meanwhile, law enforcement authorities have tightened security in Belagavi and other sensitive areas to avoid further incidents. Investigations into the attack are ongoing, and authorities have assured strict action against those responsible.
