CM Devendra Fadnavis Inaugurates Self-Redeveloped Housing Project in Mumbai

Date:

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the self-redeveloped Charkop Shwetambara Cooperative Housing Society yesterday, a project completed with financial assistance from Mumbai Bank. The event also saw the participation of Union Minister Piyush Goyal, marking a significant milestone in Mumbai’s housing redevelopment efforts.

Speaking at the inauguration, CM Fadnavis praised the society for successfully undertaking the self-redevelopment model, highlighting it as a prime example of how cooperative housing societies can take charge of their own projects. He emphasized that self-redevelopment ensures transparency, cost-effectiveness, and timely completion, unlike traditional redevelopment models that often face delays due to builder involvement.

“This project is a testament to the power of self-reliance. The residents have shown that redevelopment is possible without being dependent on builders. The government will continue to support societies that choose this path,” Fadnavis said.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal lauded the efforts of the society’s members and Mumbai Bank, stating that self-redevelopment is the future of urban housing, especially in a city like Mumbai, where redevelopment challenges persist.

The beneficiaries of the project received their keys during the event, marking a new beginning for several families. The state government has been actively promoting self-redevelopment to tackle issues related to builder-driven delays and disputes, and this project serves as a model for many others across Mumbai.
