Eknath Shinde Extends Raksha Bandhan and Narali Poornima Greetings in Kolivada

Date:

Mumbai | Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde joined the festive celebrations of Raksha Bandhan and Narali Poornima in Kolivada, Mumbai, extending his heartfelt greetings to the community.

Speaking at the event, Shinde said, “All the beloved sisters have tied rakhi. I am happy that everyone in Kolivada celebrates this festival together. Today, I have been invited here, and Raksha Bandhan has also been celebrated together. I want to extend my heartfelt best wishes to all the beloved sisters. I also extend my heartfelt best wishes to everyone for Narali Poornima.”

Raksha Bandhan, a festival that honors the bond between brothers and sisters, saw vibrant celebrations across Maharashtra. In Kolivada, a traditional fishing community hub, the occasion was marked by cultural performances, community feasts, and ceremonial rakhi tying.

Simultaneously, Narali Poornima — a festival celebrated by the fishing communities of Maharashtra — was observed with equal enthusiasm. On this day, devotees offer coconuts to the sea, seeking blessings for safety and prosperity before the onset of the fishing season.

Shinde’s presence at Kolivada’s celebrations highlighted the government’s recognition of local traditions and cultural unity. “These festivals strengthen the bonds of love, respect, and togetherness in our society,” he noted, adding that cultural harmony is essential for the state’s social fabric.

Community leaders expressed gratitude for the Deputy CM’s visit, saying it reinforced the importance of preserving traditional celebrations amid modernization.

As the day concluded, the dual celebrations in Kolivada stood as a vibrant example of Maharashtra’s cultural richness, blending family bonds with maritime traditions.
