Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis on NCP Merger Talks: No Opposition to Parth Pawar

Date:

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday addressed the ongoing speculation regarding the potential merger of factions within the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). He stated that all decisions within the NCP are made internally by the party and that his government has no opposition towards Parth Pawar.

Speaking to the media, Fadnavis said, “NCP’s decisions are taken by the party itself. We don’t have any opposition towards Parth Pawar.” He further clarified that if there had been any serious merger discussions involving the NCP factions, Ajit Pawar — the Deputy Chief Minister and senior NCP leader — would have informed him personally.

The remarks come amid swirling rumors about a possible reunification of the split NCP groups, which could impact Maharashtra’s political dynamics. Fadnavis’s comments suggest that the state government remains neutral on internal party matters of the NCP and prefers to let the party handle its own organizational affairs.

The Maharashtra CM’s stance also reflects a desire to maintain political stability in the state, avoiding interference in opposition party issues. The developments are being closely watched by political observers, as any merger could reshape alliances ahead of future elections.
