Date:

The National Health Authority has invited students, researchers, developers, and startups to participate in the AB PM-JAY Auto-Adjudication Hackathon 2026, aimed at building scalable digital solutions to streamline health insurance claims under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.

Focus on Faster, Transparent Claims Processing

The hackathon seeks innovative solutions that can:

  • Integrate with existing healthcare IT infrastructure
  • Reduce manual intervention in claims processing
  • Enable faster approvals and settlements
  • Ensure transparency in adjudication

Currently, the scheme processes nearly 50,000 claims daily across 1,900+ treatment packages, with only 15–20% claims being auto-adjudicated.

Push for AI-Driven Healthcare Solutions

Officials highlighted the need for advanced technologies such as:

  • Automation and AI-based fraud detection
  • Standardised documentation systems
  • Real-time verification mechanisms

These solutions aim to enable a fully digitised, efficient claims ecosystem.

Strong Participation, Registration Closes April 13

The initiative has already received a strong response, with over 2,600 participants registered nationwide. The last date to register is April 13, 2026.

To support participants, the NHA will conduct a three-part masterclass series starting April 13, offering insights into:

  • Claims processing ecosystem
  • Problem statements
  • Solution approaches

Grand Finale at IISc Bengaluru in May

The hackathon will culminate in a two-day offline grand finale on May 8–9 at the Indian Institute of Science.

Shortlisted teams will present their solutions before a jury of experts from healthcare, technology, and public policy.

Cash Prizes & Collaboration Opportunities

Winners will receive:

  • ₹5 lakh (1st prize)
  • ₹3 lakh (2nd prize)
  • ₹2 lakh (3rd prize) (for each problem statement)

Additionally, participants will get opportunities to collaborate with the NHA and contribute to India’s digital health ecosystem.
