Pune, April 2026: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has recorded a slight increase in Class 10 pass percentage to 93.7% in 2026, with students from Pune emerging as strong performers in the newly introduced dual-exam format.

Pass Percentage Sees Marginal Rise

The national pass percentage stood at 93.7%, up from 93.66% last year, reflecting steady academic performance across the country.

The 2026 exams also marked the first implementation of the dual-exam system, introduced in line with education reforms.

Pune Region Posts Strong Results

Students from the Pune region delivered an impressive performance, with reports indicating a pass percentage of around 96.66%, placing the region among the top performers nationwide.

The strong showing highlights the region’s consistent academic excellence and adaptability to new exam formats.

Dual-Exam Format and Application-Based Testing

This year’s results were significant as CBSE introduced:

  • A two-exam system (main + improvement phase)
  • Greater emphasis on application-based questions

Experts noted that students adapted well to this shift, demonstrating improved conceptual understanding rather than rote learning.

Girls Continue to Outperform Boys

Continuing a consistent trend, girls outperformed boys in the 2026 results, further reinforcing gender-wise academic excellence in board exams.

High Scorers and Overall Performance

  • Over 55,000 students scored above 95%
  • More than 2.2 lakh students crossed 90% marks

These figures indicate a strong overall performance across regions.

Reform-Driven Academic Stability

Education officials attributed the steady results to:

  • Competency-based assessment reforms
  • Curriculum alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP)
  • Improved evaluation processes
