Maharashtra Rally: PM Modi Issues Stark Warning on Menace of Fake Videos

Date:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a public rally in Satara, Maharashtra, raised serious concerns about the growing prevalence of fake videos on social media platforms, warning of their potential to sow discord and disrupt the democratic process.

In a forceful address, PM Modi condemned the proliferation of fabricated videos, alleging that they are being utilized as a nefarious tool to manipulate public opinion and undermine the integrity of elections. He asserted that these videos, generated using Artificial Intelligence (AI), imitate the voices of prominent BJP and NDA leaders, including his own, BJP President J.P. Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah, and various Chief Ministers.

Modi denounced the insidious tactics employed by those behind the dissemination of misinformation, stating, “Those who lack the courage to engage with the NDA and BJP directly resort to spreading fake videos on social media.” He underscored the dangerous ramifications of these videos, which propagate false statements attributed to leaders who have never made such remarks.

The Prime Minister warned of a larger conspiracy at play, suggesting that these fake videos are orchestrated with the intention of sowing societal discord and destabilizing the democratic fabric of the nation. He urged the public to exercise vigilance and discernment in the face of misinformation, emphasizing the importance of upholding the sanctity of the electoral process.

Modi reassured citizens that the government is taking decisive action to combat the spread of fake news and misinformation, emphasizing the need for collective efforts to safeguard the integrity of democracy. He stressed the importance of media literacy and critical thinking in navigating the digital landscape and discerning fact from fiction.

This incident underscores the urgent need for robust measures to address the scourge of misinformation in the digital age. It underscores the imperative of promoting transparency, accountability, and responsible use of technology to preserve the integrity of democratic institutions and ensure informed public discourse.
