Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a recent address at the “Summit for Democracy”, expressed gratitude to President Yoon Suk Yeol for upholding the initiative, describing it as a pivotal platform for democracies worldwide to exchange experiences and learn from one another.

The Largest Festival of Democracy

In his address, PM Modi underscored that in a matter of weeks, the world will witness the grand spectacle of democracy unfold in India, marking the largest electoral exercise in human history. With an estimated one billion voters set to participate, India’s democratic fervor will once again reaffirm the nation’s unwavering faith in the democratic ethos.

“India boasts an ancient and unbroken tradition of democracy, which has served as the lifeblood of our civilization. Consensus-building, open dialogue, and free discourse have resonated throughout India’s history, earning it the esteemed title of the Mother of Democracy,” articulated PM Modi.

A Decade of Inclusive Growth

Reflecting on the past decade, PM Modi emphasized India’s steadfast march towards inclusive growth guided by the mantra of “सबका साथ सबका विकास सबका विश्वास सबका प्रयास” (Collective efforts for inclusive growth). Prioritizing outreach to all segments of society, particularly the marginalized, women, youth, and farmers, has remained paramount, epitomizing the essence of inclusivity.

India has transitioned to a governance model anchored on performance, ushering in an era marked by transparency, accountability, and opportunity, thereby relegating shortages, corruption, and discrimination to the annals of history. Technology has emerged as a pivotal enabler in this transformative journey.

Digital Revolution and Women-Led Development

Furthermore, PM Modi accentuated the pivotal role of women in driving this transformation, citing the empowerment of over 1.4 million elected women representatives at the grassroots level as catalysts for Women-Led Development.

The Prime Minister’s address at the “Summit for Democracy” resonated as a powerful testament to India’s democratic ethos and its unwavering commitment to fostering inclusive growth and development.
