Shiv Sena Leader Dr. Raju Waghmare Criticizes Congress Over Religious Reservation Remarks

Date:

Mumbai – In a recent statement, Dr. Raju Waghmare, a leader of the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, criticized the Congress party for their remarks on religious reservations. He accused the Congress of creating communal disharmony by promising reservations based on religion, a move that contradicts the Indian constitution.

Dr. Waghmare said, “The Congress is the one who is talking to the public that they will give the reservation based on religion. When our constitution does not allow reservations based on religion, then who is doing this communal disharmony?”

He further urged Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar to take note of the Congress’ statements and advise them against spreading such disharmony between communities and religions. “Sharad Pawar should look at Congress’ statements. He should advise Congress that they should not give or spread this kind of disharmony between the community and the religion,” he added.

The issue of religious reservations has been a contentious one in India, with various political parties often using it as a tool to garner votes. However, the constitution of India does not permit reservations based on religion, making the Congress’ promises potentially unconstitutional.

This statement from Dr. Waghmare adds to the ongoing political discourse around religious reservations in India, highlighting the need for a more nuanced and constitutionally sound approach to the issue.

As the debate continues, it remains to be seen how the Congress party will respond to these criticisms and what impact this will have on their political strategy moving forward.
