Maharashtra Dy CM Devendra Fadnavis Announces Significant Crackdown on Maoism in Gadchiroli

Date:

In a major breakthrough against Maoist insurgency, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has declared a significant success as key Maoist leaders, Girdhar and his wife, surrendered to authorities today. Addressing the media, Fadnavis highlighted the strategic importance of this development in Gadchiroli, a region historically plagued by Maoist activities.

“Girdhar, considered the backbone of Maoism, and his wife, both surrendered today,” Fadnavis stated. “Girdhar had a reward of 25 lakhs on his head, while his wife had a reward of 16 lakhs. They were perceived as the leaders of Maoist operations in Gadchiroli.”

The Deputy CM credited the success to the relentless efforts of Maharashtra’s C-60 force, which has been actively combating Maoist activities in the region. “Today, our C-60 force in Gadchiroli has created a situation where Maoists are left with only two options: surrender or face severe consequences,” he emphasized.

Fadnavis highlighted the effectiveness of police operations in stemming Maoist recruitment in Gadchiroli over the past four years. “In the last four years, not a single person from Gadchiroli has joined Maoist activities,” he declared. “The police have pushed them into remote areas, transforming Gadchiroli from being considered the last frontier of Maharashtra to now being seen as its foremost district.”

The Deputy CM’s remarks underscored the government’s commitment to eliminating Maoist influence in Maharashtra’s hinterlands, promoting peace, and ensuring security for residents. The surrender of Girdhar and his wife marks a significant milestone in the state’s ongoing efforts to combat left-wing extremism and restore normalcy in affected regions.

As Maharashtra continues to consolidate its gains against Maoist insurgency, stakeholders anticipate further developments in enhancing security measures and fostering socio-economic progress in formerly afflicted areas like Gadchiroli. The state’s resolve to maintain law and order while promoting development remains steadfast, signaling a new era of stability and prosperity for its people.
